Morocco!

The trip to Morocco started off like a nightmare, had to get up early in the morning to get the plane to Madrid, than to Casablanca and then another one to Agadir, a lot of planes for such a short flight. However I got to the airport with 4 boards and a travel bag, checking went all good until the lady behind the desk said:
- you will have to pay 150 euros for the boards to Morocco at the counter over there. (never fly with IBERIA)
I first thought she said 50 euros. It felt like a kick to balls when i realized it was 150.
However, I went to the next counter to pay, thats when i found out i only had 125 euros on me. I just said to my self  `FUCK THIS SHIT´. I called my mother to ask what the fuck i should do, because i had no more money at the time and no credit card. So, I asked the lady behind the counter if she could take my Mums credit card number and do a withdrawal like that, the lady said no, because of security reasons. I really thought that I was going to miss my flight! However, after 20 mins of just calling different people that could help and me nearly crying, she just decided to help me, so I was on my way to Morocco. YEAH!

I met my mate from school Duarte on the plane which has a mansion in Madrid, he invited me over for lunch, because of the long waiting period i had in Madrid's airport. His house was fucking awesome, we just hung-out and ate a really good lunch. thanks for that duarte!
Later making my way to the airport for my flight. I arrived in Agadir at 1:30 in the morning and i had to take a taxi to Taghazout, North of Agadir where the Lapoint camp is, just close to Anchorpoint. came there around 2 in the morning and went to my room where this funny little guy called Joao Dorao was sleeping like a baby. The next day i woke up early to get some breakfast and say hello to all people that i haven't seen in a long time lika Nisse and Lisa Fisa Blom, and the new people i have never met, like the guests and the two butty boys Pontus and Linus , Max pain, Taha, Fader and Jim.
The surf forecast did not look that great but it was fun to just get some fun rights and hangout with the crew and just `BURNK´ around. However, throughout the week I had some good sessions at Hash point just outside of the camp with me and Joao shredding the pealing right handers, trying to impress the Norwegian girls who were standing at the point watching.

With morocco being one of the driest places on earth, I arrived the week which was the wettest since the 70´s, one session i had to hide behind a bush with my board over me not just to get the high speed windy rain in my face which felt like someone was slapping you all the time plus you could not see anything, Morocco was going bonkers! As the storm rocked to Morocco from Madeira and the rain and wind kept increasing the water around Taghazout become so polluted and disgusting. So, it resulted with some party time, because of the not surf-able conditions. We jumped into Papus car and headed for Agadirs nightlife and along came a lot of people. However, half way of the trip we saw something that that we will never forget. In the heavy rain there had been a motorbike accident with the guy that rode the bike was lying on the ground in a odd position. Me and Papu concluded that he was dead, judging from the state of his motorbike and that he had no protection or helmet on. His head did not look pretty, it looked like it was from a horror film. so, we got to the next town we called the police that there had been accident and there was a high chance that he was dead. At that moment i realized that life can be taken a way in less than a second, and from now on I will always wear a helmet when riding any kind of open transportation with no protection.
But well in the town and the party mood was back, we were all looking forward to a night out, I called my friend Marco from sweden, which use to work at many nightclubs there and he took us all to the different clubs. we hand an awesome time at many different clubs that night.
At the end of the week, the sun sarted to show and Marocco turned form a muddy, grotty place to paradise with nice waves. but then it was time to go back to school, so I had to leave Morocco 3 in the morning with light stomach problems from something I ate and travel all day, to finally arrive back in Oporto around 9 at night.

Just want to say thanks to LaPoint for a nice time, mum and dad for letting go and financing my trip, and cheers to everyone who was there which made the trip worth it!

The man behind the magic stick! Mica Shapes.

Alright here we go. This man right here on the picture above, is a man with a great personality.
A person who has a lot of  knowledge about surfing, shaping, life and a lot more. But the guy is a funny fucker as well. Personally, his is one of the coolest people i ever gotten to know.

Mica is a man who can build anything. Literally, if you ask him to build a house, he will do it. As for his shaping, it is close to perfection. He shapes his boards with a 100% dedication and passion. However, Mica has been and still is one of the best surfers from Portugal. He has competed on Portuguese National Surfing Tour for many years, as well as having some good results W.Q.S in his younger years. Now he is displaying some TOP results in the shaping room as well. He has shaped boards for many professional surfers (ex: Tiago "Saca" Pires) and worked with many famous top shapers around the world.

Personally, his is the only shaper that i worked with who has managed to produce only good boards. No board of his has never disappointed me!

check out his page WWW.MICASHAPES.COM and on Facebook as well!
